  • Music Rehearsals Begin in September!

Are you interested in singing in the choir? We’d love to have you join us!

Choir rehearsals begin on September 3, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Choir meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.

Why do we sing? We prepare anthems that contribute to worship and help turn everyone’s hearts toward God. We practice the hymns and songs that will be used in worship and help lead when the congregation sings. We love to sing together, we enjoy each other’s company, and we share and pray together.

If interested, contact Janet Carter (jmcarter15@gmail.com)

Are you interested in ringing handbells? We’d love to have you join us! We have three ensembles – please talk to Janet Carter (jmcarter15@gmail.com) about which ensemble might be best for you. Each group practices every week.

    • The Bells of St Marks begins rehearsals on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.

    • JuBellation begins rehearsals on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Noon.

    • Steeple Ringers begins rehearsals on Monday, September 15, 2025, at
      4:30 p.m.

Why do we ring? We prepare music that helps the congregation feel God’s presence and draws all our hearts to worship God. We work on our ringing skills and practice the techniques needed to produce beautiful sounds. We love to ring together and enjoy each other’s company. We support and care for each other.

Justice!

St Mark's UMC is a proud member of  the Good Faith Network,

a network of 27 faith communities which works for justice

in Johnson County.

Micah 6:8 is a mandate for all who claim to follow God.

Churches are traditionally good at "walking humbly" and provide many opportunities for worship and Bible study.

Most churches do well at "loving mercy" and include many opportunities to be supportive and merciful through things like food pantries and clothing drives.

However, most churches do not do so well at "acting justly" - that is, seeking ways

to change unjust systems, or speaking to people in power about the needs

of those who are marginalized and abandoned by our culture.

The Good Faith Network gives us the opportunity to join our voices

with many other congregations so that we can be an effective voice for change

in numbers too large to ignore!

Check out their website: www.thegoodfaithnetwork.org
