Here's what's happening at St. Mark's!

  • Know Your Rights

    February 9, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

St. Mark's UMC, Overland Park KS

    What is Know Your Rights

El Centro is committed to the safety and security of the Latino community. With the political rhetoric targeting our community on an almost daily bases we must not give in to the fear and anxiety but must assist our community by empowering them with knowledge to help keep themselves and their families safe. Our goal in hosting community Know Your Rights event is to help prepare our undocumented and mixed status families, but also inform our allies on how they can assist their friends, neighbors and community at large to be safe and prepared in the event of any event that might jeopardize their rights.

We can host events in Spanish and English and provide information on steps to take in case of a random stop, or even more targeted events. We assist families in having a plan of action and all necessary information and contacts they might need, and most importantly we talk about our rights and responsibility as members of our communities.

  • Walnuts and Rice

During Advent, you are invited to join the Walnuts and Rice class for the study, Awaiting the Already: An Advent Journey Through the Gospels by Magrey deVega.

Each Gospel, in its own way, leads us on the Advent journey of preparation for Christ’s coming. Awaiting the Already, takes a tour through the four Gospel narratives that announce Christ’s birth or make way for his ministry. The class will discover what parts of the Christmas story come from which Gospel, recognizing an invitation from each Gospel writer to prepare for a fresh experience of Christ in the past and the future.

  • St. Mark's Community Assistance Fund

St. Mark's Community Assistance Fund is available to provide small amounts of help to people in need. Please consider donating to the assistance fund, the Food Pantry, or the Church budget.
